permission to vegetate, kthx.
My first year at boarding-school is already half-gone. I don’t know if I should be overjoyed or gutted, frankly speaking. *is mildly amused.*
Maybe I should be quite gutted – as well as my few readers – since being in the middle of a school year means that the workload’s pretty heavy. For starters, GCSE Food Tech is not as easy as it sounds.
Wait, Food Technology? Isn’t it just cooking?
Correction: While Food Tech may include quite a fair bit of cooking, we don’t cook just for the fun of it or to practise skills. We actually have to cook based on our projects. Say, if your task is to cook something for a vegetarian teenager, you have to crack your brain trying to find out what a teenager will (or won’t) eat, if it’s healthy enough to support growth+development of the body, and all sorts of other criteria. Oh, if an existing recipe sounds good for the task but isn’t vegetarian, you have to modify it yourself – while keeping as much flavour in as possible, depending.
Ooh, additionally, there’s the theory part to consider. I’m fine with it because yours truly is a sciency + languagey person, so write-ups for my coursework are pretty easy. And making modifications isn’t too bad. But there’s just so much work involved altogether, which is the big issue here.
Ah well, I’ll live. And it *is* GCSE, so who says I can slack?
Well, even though it’s been over a month since the last post, I’m sorry to say that I can’t think of much to blog. I’ll state the happenings very simply, though: Dormmate has complicated relationship with boyfriend and ends in disaster. People getting fatigued because we’re all busy working on concerts as well as trying to keep on top of work. Music concert tomorrow so I spent 2 hours before this rehearsing. Argh.
On a (happy) note, though, Mr Smith of my Physics class decided that I was “too clever for his set” (whaa?!?!) and should move up to the top set/class with Mr O’Donnell instead, just to push me. I knew I shouldn’t have written so much in my assignments.
Ah well, I’m actually quite happy that he thinks I’m capable in the subject, even though I missed part of the curriculum which they covered in Year 9. And touch wood, I do put in a tremendous amount of effort, so there. =)
So right now, I shouldnt’ be blogging. I should be working on that assignment Mr O’Donnell set us instead, even though I’ve just completed a buttload of prep/homework besides my concert preparations. And mind you, I’m nervous since I haven’t played in front of a full audience by myself in eons.
Wish me luck! And I make a solemn promise to blog visit very soon. If not very soon, at least by Easter because I get 3+ weeks off then. Ta!

Buy me a present for my b’day pls!!!

though my.. i see why the US is kinda slacking and so lienent. Towards the other half of the world we’re like slackers…
i dunno what food thingy you doing ^^;;;
may i ask what grade your in?
But its good to hear from you once in awhile.
=D
Yeah, the British curriculum is a little crazy. Lots of stuff, and in DETAIL. =_= You don’t realise how much stuff you learn until it’s time for exams and you’re trying to cram everything (that I’ve learned in 1.5 years, in my case) in a very very short period of time (read: 1 day).
Food technology does sound wayyyy more interesting/hands-on than oh, say… Maths, though. =|
Anyway, good luck in everything! Take care.
LOL You’re definitely having a hectic time at school lol. But even if you don’t think so, I think the outcome is worth it, isn’t it? x)
Blog soon!!
