EDIT// WRT developments on this situation - this is what happened when I was on the phone with my dad (a.k.a. “ji-chan”) today:
Me: Yes. No. Maybe. Kinda. I dunno. I’m not too bothered though.
Dad: Ah. How about I help you return the favour?
Me: (lost for a bit) Eh?
Dad: Y’know, give me your control panel password. And I’ll help remove the link.
Me: *chortle* It’s okay, dad. I’ll leave it until I get FTP back. (Thinks: In 3 months. Tch. =/)
Dad: Ah well. Never mind them then, no?
Me: U-huh. =)
Good to know that me parents care. =) Anywho, that’s my decision - take her off when I get back hom so she can enjoy some free traffic for now. (Tch!)

Question: How do you cope with unreasonable behaviour online without stirring up a storm?
So here’s the deal - Person whose site is new (to me at least) in the design community (though the claim is said person’s designed for over 3 years) asks for affiliation on Surrealle and I accept. Here’s what I recieved after replying to the application:

Well, you can imagine that the application had similar hyper-ness injected. But that’s not the point. Digression aside…less than a month after being affiliated, this is what I get in the mail.
And just like that, my link gets taken off. I would do the same but as I’m stuck with no access to FTP/Cpanel for 3 more months, I can’t “return the favour”.
I don’t know what to say. Just that I’m irked/mad (in-between) and I give up on people.

First off, do I know this person? It almost seems like I do (or at least have heard of them, but I dunno). I must just be weird ^^ But anyway…
Ugh. Now these are the kinds of “affiliates” that have always gotten to me. While it’s never happened to me, I’m sure it’d piss me off too if it did. There’s nothing more annoying and disrespectful than getting dropped like a hot potato. I think if I were you I would definitely want to know why I was “demoted.” If they’re not responding or whatever, then it’s completely not worth your time. There’s nothing wrong with you at all; this person seems very unprofessional and has a lot to learn about this webdesign business.
I’m sorry, but the hyperness is just a giant turn-off for me. I can’t take someone seriously if they’re completely hyper in their e-mails and stuff.
That SUCKS. Who does that kind of thing? How insane can someone be? No really, just de-affiliating you like that? I think it is VERY disrespectful and personally I would never want to have anything to do with said person anymore. I would probably send her an email back saying: “You know, if you can no longer affiliate with me, you might as well just take the so-called link exchange of too. I find it very disrespectful of you to do such thing for apparently no reason whatsoever.” Or something along those lines. Bluh. This could even make me angry, and I’m not the one it happened to…Yuck.
Such people should be banned of the world wide web forever. Obviously, like Scarlet said, that person is being very unprofessional and it is clear that he/she probably has not been in the designing business for too long, else they would have had more common sense (I hope…).

Well I’m kinda guessing who it is by the fact that since you can’t return the favor and take her off, she’s still on your list, and you’re not on hers. Thats the case with only one of your affies so yeah.
The site doesn’t impress me at all which shows why she was excited you accepted. As for her dropping you, I have no idea. Ignore her and be glad you don’t have to be her affy and deal with her anymore?
Truthfully, I hate people who do that. I mean, it just goes to show that people should make their decisions more carefully before following through with them. Otherwise, they could end up disrespecting/offending someone in the end.
Because of what Skye mentioned, I’m guessing they’re probably not up to your skill level. I think you should just do this: ignore it and keep improving. Once your skill level rises higher and you’re blowing everyone away, they’ll be regretting it. That’s what I always do in the face of an “affiliation rejection.” To me, that way is less confrontational,but still does the job well.

Just ignore them. They were being rude, but there are better people out there who won’t stop affiliating you for no reason.
