permission to vegetate, kthx.

My first year at boarding-school is already half-gone. I don’t know if I should be overjoyed or gutted, frankly speaking. *is mildly amused.*

Maybe I should be quite gutted – as well as my few readers – since being in the middle of a school year means that the workload’s pretty heavy. For starters, GCSE Food Tech is not as easy as it sounds.

Wait, Food Technology? Isn’t it just cooking?

Correction: While Food Tech may include quite a fair bit of cooking, we don’t cook just for the fun of it or to practise skills. We actually have to cook based on our projects. Say, if your task is to cook something for a vegetarian teenager, you have to crack your brain trying to find out what a teenager will (or won’t) eat, if it’s healthy enough to support growth+development of the body, and all sorts of other criteria. Oh, if an existing recipe sounds good for the task but isn’t vegetarian, you have to modify it yourself – while keeping as much flavour in as possible, depending.

Ooh, additionally, there’s the theory part to consider. I’m fine with it because yours truly is a sciency + languagey person, so write-ups for my coursework are pretty easy. And making modifications isn’t too bad. But there’s just so much work involved altogether, which is the big issue here. xD Ah well, I’ll live. And it *is* GCSE, so who says I can slack?
